This donation is made in honor of my late uncle James, who battled schizophrenia his entire life. This illness prevented him from properly managing his diabetes, complications from which ultimately claimed his life. Thanks to groups like NAMI working to de-stigmatize seeking help with mental illness, Uncle Jimmy managed to find treatment in a group home that brought him some peace in his final years.
